2020年(泰曆2563年)受到新冠肺炎(COVID-19又名武漢肺炎)影響，國際觀光客不容易造訪泰國。泰國在疫情控制下，每年會舉辦盛大的天燈節活動，將照常舉行！
每年10、11月期間在素可泰歷史遺跡公園舉辦為期約一周的天燈節慶典，2020年的時間為10月23日-11月1日。

2019年泰國素可泰水燈節時間落在11月2日至11日，有興趣在古城看泰國表演與燈光煙火秀的民眾，可以前往素可泰再現場買票。

- Procession around Sukhothai City to invite the Royal Inauguration Flame and Lanterns At 8.00 p.m. (Prepare the procession at 2.00 p.m.)
- Royal Procession, Tradition and Culture Processions of 9 districts, and a Procession of Nang Nopphamat.
- Floating the Royal Krathong and Lantern by the Chairman of the Ceremony to mark the auspicious occasion. At the pond of Wat Sa Si (Traphang Trakuan).
